One of our favorite aspects of February is the annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. This annual event is held in a beautiful setting overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay and serves up a delicious variety of gumbo.
On Friday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m., the Crawfish Boil Kick-off Party begins at Hammerhead’s Bar & Grill. Guests are invited to come out and enjoy a plate of boiled crawfish for $15/plate.
On Saturday, Feb.18, the main event will be held throughout the Village. The 28thAnnual Sandestin Gulf Festival invites tasters of all ages to come out and sample a variety of gumbo and vote for your favorite to determine the “People’s Choice” winner. Do you prefer: Dark or light roux? Chicken, sausage or seafood? Gulf Coast restaurants will be serving it all along with live zydeco music and children’s activities. Tickets are $25/taster in advance. $30/taster at the event.
It’s always fun day when your pursue the roux! Looking for nearby accommodations? View our South Walton and Destin vacation rentals online or call one of our friendly vacation specialists at 1-800-225-7652 to help narrow your search.
